What is classical homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a healing modality that was established by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in Germany over 200 years ago. Now, it is estimated that over 500 million people worldwide utilize this medicine according to the WHO. The word homeopathy means “similar suffering” – based on the principle that a disease can be lifted by a substance that produces same symptoms in a healthy person. The homeopathic remedies are made from substances found in nature [plants, minerals, animals] and diluted to where they are no longer toxic and match the disease pattern on an energetic level. The homeopath will look at all of your symptoms on the physical, mental and emotional levels and recommend one remedy at a time to alleviate unwanted symptoms and increase the body’s vitality. In classical homeopathy, we do not recommend protocols or multiple remedies taken as these are often not rooted in homeopathic philosophy and will not get to the underlying condition but only suppress it. Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homeopathy, wrote clear instructions on the best way to administer remedies, and that they should not be repeated unnecessarily. Classical homeopaths adhere to this tenant, as it allows us to track progress better and effect more lasting results.

How do homeopathic remedies work?

Homeopathic remedies are made from substances found in nature that go through a process of dilution and succussion in pharmacies and work on an energetic level. What does this mean? Vibrations are a kind of rhythm. For example, heartbeats and breathing are physiological rhythms we can measure but there are smaller vibrations happening inside each of the cells. These vibrations generate electromagnetic energy waves. Over time, internal and external factors can affect the vibrations of these cells and the body starts throwing out symptoms signaling that something is wrong. There is a substance in nature which can cause these symptoms in a healthy person, thus being used to match the pattern of dis-regulation to alleviate negative symptoms. The remedy acts as a signal for the body’s own healing mechanisms to bring the body to a higher level of vitality. ​

Can you treat my diagnosis?

A homeopath does not diagnosis, treat or prescribe for any medical condition. Instead, homeopathic care aims to strengthen your overall constitution and vitality by details of specific symptoms. It is not a substitute for licensed medical care but can complement it by supporting your body’s natural healing processes.

Can I still take my medication?

Yes! Homeopathy is a complementary to allopathic treatment. Homeopathic remedies do not work on the chemical level like allopathic medicines do so there are rarely, if ever, any contraindications. If you are seeing alleviation of your symptoms and wish to reduce your prescription medication, you will need to work closely with your medical doctor to do so. Do not stop any medications before consulting with your medical doctor.

How do I prepare for my consultation?

You’ll need to complete a series of intake forms [which must be completed 2 days prior to your appointment. Other than that, you’ll need to set aside 1 1/2 hours of un-interrupted time preferably on a computer. Please do not try and have a consultation in the car, or another public place.

How long will it take to get my remedy recommendation?

I am very attentive to my case analysis process and ask that you please allow up to 7 days to receive your remedy recommendation.

Where do I purchase my remedy?

Once you receive your initial remedy recommendation, you will receive all the necessary instructions on what pharmacy to purchase your remedy from as well as how to prepare your remedy.

Are you available in between appointments?

Yes! I am available via e-mail in between appointments. Wave of Wellness, LLC is not an emergency service, so responses will only be made during business hours. If you have an acute need ($25 for current clients), I am available via Zoom to assist. Please note that remedy changes (aside from quick adjustments) via e-mail will incur a fee of $25 if no follow up is had.

Why are follow ups important?

A follow up consultation is a 30-45 minute Zoom session to review the health concerns we discussed initially, your response to the remedy and for any further recommendations. Follow ups are crucial for ongoing care to keep you on the path to wellness.

Does my child need to be present for their consultation?

Yes, I ask that your child join us during the consultation for a portion of the time (about 20 minutes) but they do not need to be present for the entire duration.

How many follow ups will I need?

It depends! One of the main factors is how long your chronic condition has been going on. If it is an ailment you have had for a number of years, it will take more time to address than if you just developed it a few months ago. Other factors such as age and lifestyle can also influence the length of time you will need homeopathic support. Over time you may need more than one remedy. You can expect to have one follow-up appointment per month at the outset. This will allow me to closely follow your progress and recommend any adjustments, if needed. As a good remedy is established, you may find you are able to space your appointments out for longer stretches.

How can I help my follow up go smoothly?

Document your progress! We tend to forget the little nuances and especially over time as our bodies work on healing, we focus on the next immediate bothersome symptom. My suggestion is to keep a log in the notes section of your phone or write it all down in a notebook.

What is an acute?

Acute symptoms develop rapidly and typically have a cause (an injury, virus or bacteria). If you experience an ailment that re-occurs at any periodicity, this is not a true acute but rather an exacerbation of your chronic state. Chronic symptoms are ongoing or re-occurring and often have no cause or solution and will not receive acute care. 

What are the hours of contact?

What if I have a homeopath already?

If you are under the care of a homeopath already, I recommend you work directly with them for your acute care.

Do you recommend a homeopathy kit?

I recommend having a homeopathy kit on hand, especially when acutes arise. Though, most common acute remedies could be found locally at a health food store if needed. Please e-mail me for a list of recommended remedy kits!

I looked up my remedy and have some concerns.

It’s important to know that a quick internet search will yield very limited, general results. There have been many books written on homeopathic remedies over the last 200+ years and there are close to 8,000 remedies presently. I have underdone rigorous training in analyzation of cases and it is a very complex process that only a qualified homeopath is trained to do. I do welcome your questions and will work to bring understanding to you based on your individual case!

What if muscle testing reveals my remedy recommendation is wrong?

Muscle testing revealing your remedy is wrong doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the wrong remedy, it could be that your body at this particular moment wasn’t resonating with this potency or administration. You have every right to do what you feel is best, but I do not support the use of muscle testing techniques to confirm my remedy recommendation and there will not be any refunds.

What happens if I get sick?

Communication is really important so I ask that you please e-mail me for assistance because often times what may be perceived as an acute is actually an exacerbation of your chronic state in which we could possibly recommend your chronic remedy to allow you to move through it. If it is a true acute, I am happy to assist and we will have a 20-25 minute Zoom session and I will make a remedy recommendation and be available daily for up to 5 days. There is a $25 fee for established clients. I know it is very tempting to try and handle things on your own, but it would be most beneficial to contact me before taking any remedies but understand that’s not always possible especially if it’s after hours. However, repeated self remedying can sometimes have a negative effect on the good healing progress we’ve made.

Do you offer discounts or payment plans?

If you are dealing with financial hardship, I do offer the option of a payment plan because I believe homeopathic care should be accessible to all. I do have a limited number of spots for lower cost and probono care. If you are in need of this accommodation and I do not have space in my practice, I am happy to refer you to a well-regarded teaching clinic or to a student under supervision who charges a lower fee. I offer a military discount, please enquire!

What is your response time in between appointments?

I have time each day for communication and admin work. If anything comes up between visits, please, always reach out via e-mail. Depending on what time of day you send your message and the urgency of the issue, I will get back to you in 24-48 hours (often sooner!). I note this range because triage is essential during busy acute seasons. If you don’t hear back from me in 48 hours, assume there has been a glitch, or the fallibility of my human condition has emerged so reach out again.

What if the first remedy doesn't help?

This does happen on occasion. Sometimes the first remedy isn’t the perfect match, or your body needs a different potency or frequency. Through regular communication and follow-up visits, we’ll adjust your care as needed. Healing with homeopathy can happen in phases, with some symptoms improving before others. You’re supported you throughout this process to find the approach that works best for your individual needs.
